Building an extension is in many ways harder to do than build a new house because it has to be built in sympathy with the existing building, which is often out of level or in the case of older buildings suffered from settlement and cracking, and needs to look right as if it fits in with what's already there.

Over the years we have built house extensions Sheffield, Leeds, Barnsley Wakefield and throughout the whole of Yorkshire and during this time we have learnt to anticipate these problems which mean adjustments can be made to the build as it progresses. An example of this is when we were asked to build a two storey side extension for Mr and Mrs Pinder in Wakefield. The existing brick was not available so we had to get a similar brick and have it hand finished so the colour matched. Also the existing brick coursing was wrong which meant if we didn't adjust our mortar joints exactly right there would be a cut brick running all the way up the front of the extension which would have looked wrong.

These are an example of the many things that must be taken into account and it is important not to just jump in feet first and realise your mistake when it is to late.
